Our wines are elaborated with grapes coming from vineyards with a limited production of a 6.000 kg. of grape by ha., located in the zone of “Campillo de Alboloduy”, in an average altitude of 800 m., in the zone of Montenegro with altitudes between the 900 m. and 1,200 m., and in other places in Enix and Canjáyar with altitudes between the 650 m. and 950 m. These vineyards are located in slaty soil lands and, in other cases, in limestone soils lands. Great part of these vineyards is cultivated in dry lands and some of them with irrigation by dripping, practicing a respectful with the environment cultivation, without pesticides or chemical fertiliser. Natural compost is used as fertiliser; sulfur and bordeaux mixture  are used as preventive treatments (copper sulphate + lime), and in case of some plague, we use biological insecticides (Pyrethrum , Rotenone or Potassium Soap).

These special characteristics of crop allow us to obtain maximum quality grapes, and this is the first step to obtain maximum quality wines.

We want to emphasize the importance which supposes for us the recent concession by ANDANATURA (Company that manages the Natural Parks of Andalusia) of the brand "Handicraft Product, Natural Park of Andalusia" for our wines. This supposes for us a very important impulse in the recognition of the quality of our wines, and it corroborates our good agricultural practices previously mentioned, and an added value in a high competitive world, where the market demands more and more, products and practices respectful with the environment. At the same time I want to emphasize the importance for our company the recent concession in Certificates ISO 9001 in Quality and ISO 14001 in Environmental Management, so now we are at the top in Andalusia in companies with certificated quality in production.

Nowadays, we are the only Andalusian winery that simultaneously have these three certificates in quality and envionmental management.



The technical management of our winery is in charge of Dª Cristina Calvache Abad, Enology Bachelor´s Degree by the University of Cordoba and MASTERS in Viticulture and Enology by the Superior School of Enology of Pais Vasco.

In short, our philosophy is based on an ordered growth, highest qualification and rigorousness from the varieties selection to the end of the process. These are our keys to make possible this project of familiar company with options to have a hole in the wine market, highly competitive. At the moment we are obtaining it.

The winery commercializes different types of wine under the Wine denomination "Vinos de la Tierra Ribera del Andarax", certified by Agrocolor Ltd., authorized certifier company and accredited by Andalusia Council.


WINES at in the market now:

WINES in aging process that will be commercialized over the next years:

  • Colección Cristina Calvache SYRAH 2005, Crianza: Red wine with the variety SYRAH, with 12 months aging in American oak barrel and 12 months more aging in bottle. It will be commercialized from November of 2007.
  • Colección Cristina Calvache MERLOT 2006, Crianza: Red wine with de variety MERLOT with 12 months raising in French oak barrel and 12 months more aging in bottle. It will be commercialized from November of 2008.

These are the new wines of the Almeria's Alpujarra, and we will incorporate new varieties to have a wide variety of wines in the market over the next years.

Finally, I want to emphasize the importance that our initiatives suppose for the sustainable development of the towns in our region. At the present, our company maintains 3 permanent full-tiem jobs and 2 permanent half-day jobs, in addition to several temporary jobs throughout the year, according to the necessities of vintage and field workings.

Managerial initiatives as ours and many others led to end by local businessmen create future expectations and improve the quality of our towns, driving away the fear to the depopulation.
